Configuration for some commonly used ftp clients


To upload your site files to your hosting, you must use a FTP (File Transfer Protocol).

To configure it, you will need the following credentials, which you can find in your hosting activation email:

  • Hosting connection
  • Log in
  • Password

Once connected, in the administration panel you will find the following folders:

  • www: intended for the website, including any ASP 3.0, ASP.NET and PHP pages;
  • script: intended for any CGI script;
  • data: directory, not accessible by users, in which is inserted databases or sensitive data files accessible only through scripts;
  • log files: in this directory, the log files of the previous days are published to allow for possible local storage and/or consultation.

Following, are brief configuration guides for the most common and most used client FTP:

CUTEFTP
Recommended but there is a fee.

FILEZILLA
Not recommended for low security matters. But if it is used, SSL connection should not be utlilized (Use Simple FTP).

FTPX
Not practical.

CuteFTP

  1. Launch the program.
  2. Enter the required credentials that you find in the hosting activation email: Host, Log in, and Password. CuteFTP
  3. Click on "Connect". Your site is on the right side of the window.CuteFTP

Filezilla

  1. Launch the program.Filezilla

FTPX

  1. Launch the program.
  2. Enter the required credentials that you find in the hosting activation email: Host, Log in, and Password. FTPXFTPX
